The first and most noticeable difference between Kyoshin and Samurai is the lack of ornate armor. Although this character appears to be another katana-wielder, much like the Samurai, there’s a bit more to the Kyoshin. The game’s playable female characters, meanwhile, don’t appear to be wearing ‘boob armor,’ either which is a good sign.įor Honor will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on February 14, 2017. It’s not uncommon for female villains to be portrayed ‘sexily’ and for their sexuality to be portrayed as a villainous trait/inherently evil but it appears that Ubisoft has avoided that trope with Apollyon. With the game yet to be released, it’s hard to judge exactly how well For Honor‘s female characters are represented, but for now things look incredibly positive.

Ubisoft has yet to provide a full breakdown of which characters’ genders can and cannot be chosen, but judging by the trailer, it seems that The Peacekeeper will be available as a female version only. Out of the twelve characters (four for each faction), two can be either male or female, one of them can only be male and one of them can only be female. One of these characters is The Peackeeper, an assassin-type character from the Knights faction who can be seen in the trailer above. When For Honor launches early next year, Apollyon won’t be the only female character featured prominently in the game as all three factions offer players the chance to choose a female character. “Through me, the wolves among them will rise again,” says the female antagonist. The trailer explains that the three factions are “under threat” from a “mysterious and bloodthirsty warlord” named Apollyon.Īpollyon, it seems, takes issue with the fact that the factions are no longer using their war-related wisdom and she aims to trigger war in order to get them to be brave again. In the For Honor story trailer, embedded above, various player characters of different genders from across the game’s three factions (Vikings, Knights and Samurai) can be seen. Game director Jason Vandenberghe previously confirmed that For Honor features playable female characters and that the development team put a lot of “time and effort” into adding more than one gender and ethnicity to the game. The game’s story is also detailed, introducing players to female antagonist Apollyon. Ubisoft’s upcoming action game For Honor gets several new trailers showing its female characters in action.
